Your little ones will sleep until the rooster crows knowing that the God who made them loves them too.

Night night, farm!

Amy Parker’s children’s books have sold more than 800,000 copies including two Christian Retailing’s Best award-winning books and the bestselling A Night Night Prayer. She lives outside Nashville with her husband and two children.
Review:
Night Night, Farm is a sweet board book for young children. Amy Parker writes a sweet and engaging bed time story for young children. In addition to the writing, Virginia Allyn completes this book with some wonderfully bright and sweet animal pictures. They are eye catching and cute.

Night Night, Farm is a nice length for a board book, but not overly crowded with words. It has a nice rhyming rhythm to keep the pace and attention of children.

The story and illustration of Night Night, Farm was just nice and fun. I would definitely recommend this book to parents with young children.

Waiting On Wednesday: A Moonbow Night

August 3, 2016

Waiting On Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine.
Each week offers the opportunity to spotlight an up-and-coming release that you are most excited about!

Waiting On:
Title: A Moonbow Night
Author: Laura Frantz
Publisher: Revell
Publication Date: January 3rd, 2017

Synopsis:
From GoodReads
After fleeing Virginia, Temperance Tucker and her family established an inn along the Shawnee River. It's a welcome way station for settlers and frontiersmen traveling through the wild Cumberland region of Kentucke--men like Sion Morgan, a Virginia surveyor who arrives at the inn with his crew looking for an experienced guide. When his guide appears, Sion balks. He certainly didn't expect a woman. But it is not long before he must admit that Tempe's skill in the wilderness rivals his own. Still, the tenuous tie they are forming is put to the test as they encounter danger after danger and must rely on each other.
With her signature sweeping style and ability to bring the distant past to vivid life, Laura Frantz beckons readers to join her in a land of Indian ambushes, conflicting loyalties, and a tentative love that meanders like a cool mountain stream.
Why I'm Waiting:
Laura Frantz has become a favorite author of mine. Her stories just capture my attention so quickly. I can read her books in one sitting if I'm allowed. I can't wait to see what this book has to offer! Her characters are fantastic and make you either love them or can drive you nuts, in a good way.

Counted with the Stars by Connilyn Cossette

August 1, 2016

Title: Counted with the Stars
Author: Connilyn Cossette
Publisher: Bethany House
Pages: 352
ISBN: 978-0-7642-1437-0
Publication Date: April 5th, 2016

Synopsis:
Sold into slavery by her father and forsaken by the man she was supposed to marry, young Egyptian Kiya must serve a mistress who takes pleasure in her humiliation. When terrifying plagues strike Egypt, Kiya is in the middle of it all.

Choosing to flee with the Hebrews, Kiya finds herself reliant on a strange God and drawn to a man who despises her people. With everything she's ever known swept away and now facing the trials of the desert, will she turn back toward Egypt or surrender her life and her future to Yahweh?
Review:
When reading about the plagues of Egypt in the time of Moses, it is typically from the Jewish view or from Moses or his family. In Counted with the Stars, we see how the plagues hit Egypt from that of the Egyptian point of view, which for me was refreshing and new. It is something I've wondered, how was it for the people who fought against God's commands to let his people go.

Through this story, we follow Kiya, who was sold into slavery to help pay her families debts. In this time she makes a friend with a young Jewish woman who is also bound to the house through slavery. They each suffer in their own ways, but through their trials, their friendship does grow. When the plagues start, Kiya is lost about what is happening, but with the growing friendship, Kiya learns about her friends beliefs. When the Jewish people are freed, Kiya and her family go with them. It isn't smooth sailing for Kiya and her friends and family through this journey, but it is a journey where she learns and grows. Every character plays a part and helps expands this story. I enjoyed the detail and was sad when the story came to an end.

This was a wonderful story to read. I enjoyed the progression of the characters. I'm so glad that this is the first book of the Out of Egypt series. I can't wait for the next book to come out in November.

About the Author:
When she is not homeschooling her two sweet kids (with a full pot of coffee at hand), Connilyn Cossette is scribbling notes on spare paper, mumbling about her imaginary friends, and reading obscure, out-of-print history books. There is nothing she likes better than digging into the rich, ancient world of the Bible and uncovering buried gems of grace that point toward Jesus. Her novel Counted With the Stars won the 2013 Frasier Contest and was a semifinalist in the 2013 ACFW Genesis Contest. Although a Pacific Northwest native, she now lives near Dallas, Texas.
