Waiting On Wednesday: The Gilded Lady

October 30, 2019

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly feature that spotlights an up-and-coming release you are most excited about.

I recently read Elizabeth Camden's newest release, The Spice King, you can follow the link to the review. I loved it! It was a story I couldn't wait to continue. The fact that it is a the start of a trilogy, really is a delight! The cover for book two of the Hope and Glory series was recently shared, and it is gorgeous! I can't wait to continue reading about this interesting family. There is still so much left to discover and where this story will go. And seeing it through the eyes of the only sister of the family should offer a very different insight.
I know this book still has a little way to go with it's release, but I'm so excited for this book.

Top Ten Tuesday: Halloween Freebie

October 29, 2019

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Artsy Read Girl.
Each week features a book related topic to spotlight your Top Ten.

Topic:
Halloween Reads

This is a fun theme!
I'm not a big fan of Halloween, except for candy and dressing up.
So, I'm a wuss. I won't watch horror movies, so I won't read horror reads, but with my background in criminal justice, I love a good suspense/mystery read. It's right up my alley. I love to try to solve a puzzle in a story.

Listed below will be a wide assortment of books that range from suspense, mystery, all the way to Gothic, and then supernatural YA.

All of these books are fun and have some mystery behind them and feel like they are the perfect Halloween read.

Welcome to a new week! It is crazy to think that we are in the downward spiral of the year. This is the last week of October! My kiddo so happily pointed out that we are 2 months away from Christmas. Thank you child....But, with her getting older, she is getting easier to shop for, and she loves to read!

This was a good week for reading. I finished some books, and got some new books in to read.

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Artsy Read Girl.
Each week features a book related topic to spotlight your Top Ten.

Topic:
Books on Books

I changed up the topic a little bit for today. I wasn't feeling the original topic.
Then it hit me, I haven't seen a topic focus on books that have books on the cover. I thought of 5 right off of the top of my head and decided to see if I could come up with 10....I made it to 12.

So, without further ado, Books on Books.

It's been a crazy week for me. Busy, but productive. It's shaping up to be another busy and productive week, but I'm ready for it. Because of the business, I haven't been able to read as much as I wanted, but I still was able to make some time to escape into a lovely new world for a little while.

Too mix it up a little bit, I thought it would be fun to share what I've recently found to binge watch. :-)

Currently Watching:

I just discovered Call The Midwife and oh, my goodness! I'm addicted! I think this is a perfect binge watch show...my husband, not so much. He isn't one for British TV, whatever, but he has found it interesting, like me, the medical practices from that time!

Waiting On Wednesday: Daughter of Rome

October 16, 2019

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly feature that spotlights an up-and-coming release you are most excited about.

The book I'm featuring this week is another 2020 release, but it isn't that far off. This author is a favorite of mine. She has such a lyrical and poetic style of writing. She coneys the story in such a way that is transports you there and puts you in the story with the characters. You feel their emotions as the story goes.

Tessa Afshar's books have always been breathtaking. She focuses on Biblical fiction and has written many Old and New Testament stories that tug at you. She keeps the integrity of the Biblical account while weaving her characters into the narrative. I honestly can't wait for her soon to be new release Daughter of Rome.
 It sounds amazing!
The cover is stunning!

Waiting On:
Title: Daughter of Rome
Author: Tessa Afshar
Publisher: Tyndale House
Publication Date: February 4th, 2020

About the Book:
A woman with a devastating secret. A man bent on proving his worth. A chance encounter that catapults them into the heart of history.

When the daughter of a prominent Roman general meets a disinherited Jewish immigrant, neither one can dream of God's plan to transform them into the most influential couple of the early church. Nor can they anticipate the mountains that will threaten to bury them. Their courtship unwittingly shadowed by murder and betrayal, Priscilla and Aquila slowly work to build a community of believers, while their lives grow increasingly complicated thanks to a shaggy dog, a mysterious runaway, and a ruthless foe desperate for love. But when they're banished from their home by a capricious emperor, they must join forces with an unusual rabbi named Paul and fight to turn treachery into redemption.

With impeccable research and vivid detail, Daughter of Rome is both an emotive love story and an immersive journey through first-century Rome and Corinth, reminding readers once again why Debbie Macomber has said that "no one brings the Bible to life like Tessa Afshar."
