Introduce Someone to Your Favorite Genre
My favorite genre is historical fiction. There is so much in history that can be fun to apply as the background to the story. One story I read this past year focused around the Pinkerton Detectives and for fun added a touch of steampunk (Millie's Treasure by Kathleen Y'Barbo). You can also have a historical romance that is a romantic comedy. Amongst the history, you can gorgeous gowns and fantastic balls to visit (A Talent for Trouble by Jen Turano). You can have a mystery that keeps turning the pages till the very end as it keeps you wondering how this will play out, if the characters will make it out ok (Against the Tide by Elizabeth Camden). Historical fiction has so much to offer with so many different kinds of backgrounds. And the best part is, you're not just set in one time. You can visit Biblical times, to Medieval, then on to WW2. Historical fiction is like a time machine!
