Synopsis:
After his departure from New York two years ago to meet up with his almost-fiancee, Zayne Beckett is the last person Agatha Watson wanted to stumble upon in her travels as a reporter with the New York Tribune. Quite pathetically bedraggled, he clearly needs to be taken in hand and sent back East to his family. Although she no longer has feelings for him, Agatha realizes--by hook or by crook--she'll have to be the one to get the obstinate man home.

Zayne has no desire to be taken anywhere and is prepared to drag his heels all the way home . . . until he finds himself slipping back into the familiar banter of his former friendship with Agatha. Once they arrive in New York, Zayne realizes Agatha's determined nose for news has earned her a few enemies, and he hopes to repay her help with some help of his own. When she rebuffs all his attempts to prove himself a knight in shining armor, the lengths to which they'll go to win this battle of wills lead to some memorable antics.

Everyone else may think them a match, but nothing could be further from the truth--until Agatha finds herself in real trouble. Have these two stubborn, too-smart-for-their-own-good people been meant for each other all along?
Review:
I discovered Jen Turano last year when I first read her book A Talent for Trouble. The mixture of humor and adventure was perfect! So, I went back read the two previous books in the series and downloaded the the e-book novella. Each book was such a fun experience. So, I was anxiously awaiting the latest and last to series and I'm happy to say it didn't disappoint!

I really didn't know what to expect from Agatha's story. When we left off, Zayne had headed out west to finally be with his fragile Helena, who we never really saw in the previous stories. We begin two years after the end of A Talent for Trouble and out west in Colorado. Many things have changed in this two year gap, except for one thing....Agatha has a wonderful ability of getting into trouble. Hence the reason she is out west. She is out west with her escort Drusilla and Mr. Blackheart, her bodyguard. I have to feel bad for Mr. Blackheart, he has his hands full with this job.

In her adventures out west, scooping out stories, while staying away from New York to protect her life, Agatha stumbles on a new friend Matilda the pig, who offered a lot of fun to the story and an old friend Zayne, who is not like his old self after two years out west, now on his own. Instead of going back home after a couple of events that left him in a depression, he moves off by himself to goldmine. However, in typical Agatha fashion, she make it possible in a very dramatic fashion that makes Zayne come back home with her and her companions.

A Match of Wits was an interesting adventure. Zayne spends a lot of his time trying to figure out what would be best for Agatha, while Agatha is determined to help Zayne get back to the person he used to be and help him get things organized, also while trying to figure out who is wanting to harm her, which proves difficult with her companion Drusilla and Mr. Blackheart, who are both determined to try to keep Agatha out of sight and confined till the danger passes.

Even with many things going on with the characters, it was a book packed filled with humor and a little mystery. It was also nice to get caught up on previous characters from the series. Each were touched on in different parts of the story.

I thought this was a good story to close out this series of spunky and independent women who liked to defy convention. I will miss these characters, but I look forward to Jen Turano's new series!
