As this day draws closer, I tend to start researching more on the founding of the country and and the battles fought for the people to gain their rights and fight tyranny of an over taxing government that had no care for the people here.
Our founding fathers were were brave men who set out on the path to help our country. It was a hard road, but they pushed through. And in this research, I also stumble on quotes from these men that are amazing to read. They had a wonderful insight.
I wanted to share a few that stood out to me.
Abuse of words has been the great instrument of sophistry and chicanery, of party, faction, and division of society. - John Adams
A government of laws, and not of men. - John Adams
I prefer peace. But if trouble must come, let it come in my time, so that my children can live in peace. - Thomas Paine
Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it. - Thomas Paine
The constitutions of most of our States
assert that all power is inherent in the people; that... it is their
right and duty to be at all times armed. - Thomas Jefferson
Educate and inform the whole mass of the people... They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty. - Thomas Jefferson
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin
The marvel of all history is the patience
with which men and women submit to burdens unnecessarily laid upon them
by their governments. - George Washington
The Constitution is the guide which I never will abandon. - George Washington
July 4th is a good time to think back and remember what the country had to get through. It is amazing the fortitude that these men had as the pushed ahead to help the people of America.
Happy 4th to everyone and I hope y'all have a wonderful day celebrating this nations birthday!
