About the Book:
Miss Isadora Delafield may be an heiress, but her life is far from carefree. When her mother begins pressuring her to marry an elderly and uncouth duke, she escapes from the high-society world she's always known and finds herself an unlikely candidate for a housekeeper position in rural Pennsylvania. My Thoughts:
Mr. Ian MacKenzie is known for his savvy business sense and has built his reputation and fortune completely through traditional hard work. But when his adopted parents are in need of a new housekeeper and Isadora is thrown into his path, he's unexpectedly charmed by her unconventional manner.
Neither Isadora nor Ian expected to find the other so intriguing, but when a chain of mysterious incidents on the farm point to a larger threat, they'll have to set aside everything they thought they wanted for a chance at happy-ever-after.
When I read a story by Jen Turano, I know there will be a sweet romance, quirky character names, and lots of laughs and chuckles. Flights of Fancy is a book that held true to all of these.
Flights of Fancy is the first book of a new series by Jen, American Heiresses. Her second book was just released, Diamond in the Rough. I can't wait to read book two to see where this series will go.
I've really enjoyed the previous books, this one was cute, I will say. It wasn't my absolute favorite, but it was really enjoyed. This story was a little different then her other stories in that, the main heroine, Isadora Delafield didn't have her friends to bounce off of like the previous series. Izzy was a unique character. She had many strengths and her love for others really shone. Her compassion for those closest to her is strong and enduring. When she is thrown into a situation where she needs to care for four orphan children, her personality really popped.
Ian MacKenzie was a strong and very determined man who at first wanted to work his way to the highest ladder, but as life moves on and things shift on what has known with unexpected visitors to his farm, his eyes are opened to what he really should focus on.
Ian and Izzy are thrown together in a very different way, which brings laughs in so many ways along the way. Their story is a dance of false identities, success, and a thrown together family. It is fun to see how it all plays out and how it all works well together.
I did listen to the story on Audible, and the performance was good. The narrator had a smooth and calming voice that let me slide right into the story. I've already downloaded book 2 and I can't wait to see where this one takes me to.
