Synopsis:
Light of the Last the third book in the War of the Realms series. I believe that this is the last book in the series, but with how this book ended, I could see it continuing or have a spin off in a way. If that were to happen, I wouldn't mind, this has been a very good and interesting story.
We have followed Drew through this whole series from the time he was a teenager in Cloak of Light to college age and a little older in this book. Rise of the Fallen fully introduced us to Validus, an Angel who helps to protect Drew.
Reading through this series has been very interesting and entertaining. Drew has been a character who has grown a lot in this trilogy of books. He has changed and grown and has also had to make a lot of tough decisions.
Validus is the youngest of the angels . He has been in a state of war with the fallen for as long as he can remember, but fighting hasn't been the only thing he has been apart of, he has been helping to protect special lineages through the ages. In all of this, people he protect don't know he is there, except for Drew. In this book, not only is the knowledge grown, but a communication has finally happened between Drew and Validus as they fight to protect those around them.
I really enjoyed this book. It flowed and progressed smoothly and kept the answers coming to the questions asked. Time moved more in this book then it has in the first book. We traveled through a lot of time in the second book, but this one had a lot more action over a shorter amount of time. It wasn't hard to keep up with the pacing.
Light of the Last offered an interesting idea to a passage of scripture. One I never thought of. I found it very interesting and made me look at scripture a little more differently. I will leave you to find out which one it is.

Synopsis:
To Fight What Others Can’t You Must See What Others Don’tReview:
After an accident left him temporarily blind, Drew Carter didn’t just regain his sight. He now sees what others can’t imagine–an entire spiritual realm of mighty beings at war.
Forget the gift, Drew just wants his life back. Part of that involves Sydney Carlyle, a woman he is inexplicably drawn to. When he’s offered the chance to become a CIA agent, it seems the way to redeem his past. The only problem–his visions of the supernatural realm are increasing in frequency.
It’s up to the warrior angel Validus and his hand-picked team of heavenly agents to protect the unbelieving Drew. Validus now knows that the young man is at the epicenter of a global spiritual war, and the angels must use a millennia of battle experience keep Drew alive, for the Fallen want him dead.
Surrounded by spiritual warriors and targeted by demons, Drew’s faced with an impossible decision that will forever alter the destiny of America...and his own soul.

Review: Cloak of the Light by Chuck Black

Title: Cloak of the Light
Author: Chuck Black
Publisher: Multnomah Books
Pages: 320
ISBN: 978-1-60142-502-7
Publication Date: March 18th, 2014
Synopsis:
Review:
Cloak of the Light was such an interesting story. A lot of YA books these days like to jump into the meat of the story almost form the beginning, leaving the reader sometimes with questions to how did things end up that way? Why did that happen? To answer some of the questions you would read through flashbacks. Cloak of the Light started from the beginning and worked it's way though. I was pleasantly surprised with the details to the story and to the background of the main character. I enjoyed how the story grew as our lead Drew Carter grew.
Through out the story, Drew faces many tough situations and he has to deal with the consequences of the events, even if they weren't all of his doing. Because of this, he is shunned for a part of his high school career, but he pushes on and make it to college, however, in a lab accident, he looses his sight after witnessing something he couldn't understand. Drew's friend who was with him when the accident happened, flees, hoping to protect himself from what he had termed aliens, however, Drew doesn't know what to make of what he saw, but doesn't try to since he has lost his sight. However, one day, Drew starts to regain his sight. When it fully returned, he saw again what he saw before the accident, but instead of one, he sees so much more. He doesn't know what to make of it, except, he has a desire to protect the people who are being tormented and injured by these mysterious beings.
I really enjoyed this story and I can't wait to see where the rest of the series goes and what Drew will discover. I will say that if you are uneasy about news stories of school shootings or teens drinking, there are a couple of parts in the story you might want to skim over. The scenes are not there for the sake of shock, they are there to play a part in the story. Drew learns much from these incidents.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone
January 14, 2012
The cover is unique and I will admit even if I hadn't heard about the book, the cover would have made me stop to pick it up.
When I first started reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone, I was a bit apprehensive. For one thing, the language and the push in the story to make it seem dark. It seemed like the first few chapters were trying to show the main character Karou as dark, close to goth, but not quite. Second, the names. Yes, the book is set in Prague for some of it, but really, if the names aren't normal, you will lose some of my interest. Trying to read a weird name over and over again, takes away from the story for me, because I keep questioning myself if I'm pronouncing it right.
The book has a Romeo and Juliet feel about it. Two "people" ( I use "" since this is a supernatural story of Angles and Demons that takes place on Earth) who are complete opposite fall for each other. A raging battle between their kind has been going on for a thousand years, but they question it. They meet and have a fight, really a small battle. The girl leaves to go heal, the guy goes back to his place, and can't stop thinking of the girl he almost killed and sets off to find her. He finds her, they fight, she wins this time and feels bad and their relationship blooms from there.
When I say that the book is over Angles and Demons, it's not in the Biblical since. So, cast that out of your head because, this is a mythical world where Angles are from their own world that is parallel to ours in away, or another layer of worlds where the Demons got sick of the Angles rule, hence the war. There is no God, just godstars that created the Angles. And the demons are similar to how the Egyptian gods looked. Part human, part animal or several different parts of animal meshed together. There are people who are dealers/traffickers who are wanting to acquire wishes. So they procure the payment needed to recive their wishes they want, but have to be careful in how they wish since the wishes are dark magic.
A question I have to writers now is, since when is stalking ok?Is it a law in the supernatural world that it is ok to break into a person's house and watch that person sleep or follow the person around? I'm sorry, in my world if you stalk me and I wake up to find you in my house, don't be surprised if you have a 9mm pointed at you. Stalking is not romantic. It is creepy and illegal. And could get you killed. I don't get this in books now. Then the girl ends up not having an issue with it, really? That drives me batty!
This book is the first in a series. The story was interesting, I will say, but I don't think I will read it again with so many things that just irked me. I will probably read the rest of the series as it comes out, but for me Not to read.
