Drew is caught in a world of light - just inches away from the dark

What if...there was a world beyond our vision, a world just fingertips beyond our reach? What if...our world wasn’t beyond their influence?
Tragedy and heartache seem to be waiting for Drew Carter at every turn, but college offers Drew a chance to start over—until an accident during a physics experiment leaves him blind and his genius friend, Benjamin Berg, missing.

As his sight miraculously returns, Drew discovers that the accident has heightened his neuron activity, giving him skills and sight beyond the normal man. When he begins to observe fierce invaders that no one else can see, he questions his own sanity, and so do others. But is he insane or do the invaders truly exist?

With help from Sydney Carlyle, a mysterious and elusive girl who offers encouragement through her faith, Drew searches for his missing friend, Ben, who seems to hold the key to unlocking this mystery. As the dark invaders close in, will he find the truth in time?
Review:
Cloak of the Light was such an interesting story. A lot of YA books these days like to jump into the meat of the story almost form the beginning, leaving the reader sometimes with questions to how did things end up that way? Why did that happen? To answer some of the questions you would read through flashbacks. Cloak of the Light started from the beginning and worked it's way though. I was pleasantly surprised with the details to the story and to the background of the main character. I enjoyed how the story grew as our lead Drew Carter grew.

Through out the story, Drew faces many tough situations and he has to deal with the consequences of the events, even if they weren't all of his doing. Because of this, he is shunned for a part of his high school career, but he pushes on and make it to college, however, in a lab accident, he looses his sight after witnessing something he couldn't understand. Drew's friend who was with him when the accident happened, flees, hoping to protect himself from what he had termed aliens, however, Drew doesn't know what to make of what he saw, but doesn't try to since he has lost his sight. However, one day, Drew starts to regain his sight. When it fully returned, he saw again what he saw before the accident, but instead of one, he sees so much more. He doesn't know what to make of it, except, he has a desire to protect the people who are being tormented and injured by these mysterious beings.

I really enjoyed this story and I can't wait to see where the rest of the series goes and what Drew will discover. I will say that if you are uneasy about news stories of school shootings or teens drinking, there are a couple of parts in the story you might want to skim over. The scenes are not there for the sake of shock, they are there to play a part in the story. Drew learns much from these incidents.
