Buzz Words
Some books only need a few words to get my attention.
You know the ones—those little buzz words in a book description that immediately make you pause and think, Oh, I need to read this. Before you know it, the book is already on your TBR. I know this can go the other way, but I wanted to keep things positive and show the words I'm on the hunt for.
When a book is announced, there are a lot of key words used to grab readers’ attention. Early reviews start appearing, book bloggers share their thoughts, authors provide blurbs, and promotional material begins circulating everywhere. There are cover reveals, interviews, and plenty of hype surrounding new releases. A lot goes into promoting a book.
Within all of that promotion, readers are often looking for those special buzz words—little clues that signal a story might be exactly their kind of read. When you see one of those phrases, you immediately think, Yes! That’s a story I can’t wait to read.
It took me a while to put this list together. Not because it was difficult, but because my reading tastes shift throughout the year. I had to look back at the books I’ve read recently and the ones I considered favorites. When I did, I noticed several similarities and started pulling key phrases from those stories.
Whenever I see these words used to describe a book, I’m usually drawn to the story right away—and it doesn’t take long before it ends up on my TBR.

What books are you on the look out for? Do you stay on the positive side of things going "Yes! This is the book I want", or do you tend to look more for the, that's something that makes me not want to read it.

Books on my Spring TBR
It’s time for my quarterly look at the books I hope to read — these lists always reveal my optimistic side.
At this point, I’ll call it a success if I manage to knock out even a couple of them. I have a bit of a book problem… like many of you! I see a new release — or even just one that’s new-to-me — and immediately think, “Oh, it’s so pretty! I need to read this one.”
Meanwhile, the rest of my TBR quietly drifts off to the side. And somehow, it just keeps growing. Books I didn’t even know existed are suddenly taking up residence in a space I didn’t realize I had for them.
And so, without further ado, books that have already caught my eye for the spring.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, fellow bookish leprechauns! 🍀
I’m rocking green today — as tradition demands — but let’s be honest… not everyone wants to sport the full emerald ensemble. So here’s a sneaky idea: if you’re skipping the green outfit, why not celebrate with a green-covered book instead? That way, you’re still in the spirit without pinching anyone.
Full confession: I may have taken this green-reading habit to legendary levels. My shelves are basically a forest of green! I couldn’t resist sharing my haul of shamrock-worthy reads.
From Historical Fiction to Contemporary, Fantasy to Dystopian, Classics to YA, Middle Grade to Romance, there’s a little something for every sneaky, shamrock-loving reader.
So grab a green snack, curl up with a green-covered story, and let your literary luck of the Irish run wild. 🍀✨ Who needs a pot of gold when you’ve got a shelf like this?

Books Featuring Ordinal Numbers (and a little math humor)
This topic had me brushing off my math skills, which, honestly, mostly stopped at decimals. Why? Because in the library world, we mostly deal with words, not numbers. Numbers are for math people… we’re here for stories, drama, and plot twists!
But today, we’re talking books that use numbers in their titles — specifically those that show a book’s place in a series. Think “Book One,” “Part Two,” or “Volume Three.”
Full disclosure: I haven’t kept up with that many series that fit the bill perfectly. So, to make this topic work, I also included some books that just have numbers in the title, because why not? A small list? Nope. Not happening.
So without further ado… here’s my mismatched, number-loving, slightly chaotic book list. Enjoy!

Looking for fantasy without the overload of spice, but still packed with magic, adventure, and heart? Then this Freebie Week is for you.
Genre: Clean YA Fantasy! 🎉
I had to think for a bit about which genre I wanted to focus on this time, and then it just clicked. Lately, I’ve been really enjoying fantasy. I know it’s one of the biggest trends in reading right now, but let’s be honest — sometimes the “spice” can get a little overwhelming. Every now and then, what we really need is a clean, fun, and still intense story we can completely escape into.
All of the stories featured this week are YA, clean fantasy reads. Each one is unique, captivating, and full of rich settings and engaging characters. I truly enjoyed every single one of these adventures.
Most of the books featured are part of a completed series or duology — except for one. That final book is set to release later this year, so thankfully the wait won’t be too long!
Because who needs reality when fantasy is involved?
