Review:
In the last couple of years, I've been looking into very family friendly movies through certain stations in cable and have enjoyed the sweet, clean stories. So when the ability to review this movie came up, I was thrilled to do it. I was able to sit down and watch this movie with my kiddo, which is hard to do right off the bat. I was thankful with this movie I could with out worry.
This was a very well portrayed comedy. It was clean and cute. I was wondering how they would pull of the part with the elderly man holding the robbers hostage and sharing Jesus with them. It kind of played on the method that is joked about in church, about how not to share.
If you're looking for a fun, family friendly movie, I would say give this a try.

Synopsis:
A financially desperate couple and the wife's goofy brother rob a mansion, only to be trapped by the terminally-ill Christian homeowner. He won't let them go until they decide whether or not they'll follow Jesus. Wha–? Starring Torry Martin (My Name Is Paul), Nancy Stafford (Matlock), Danny Vinson (Talladega Nights), and Michael Joiner (The Grace Card), this good-natured comedy tilts heavily toward the mad-cap side of the street, but is definitely safe for the whole family.

DVD Review & Giveaway: Buck Denver asks...Why Do We Call It Christmas?
November 10, 2014
Title: Buck Denver asks...Why Do We Call It Christmas?
Directed By: Phil Vischer
Format: DVD
Run Time: Approx. 60 Min
UPC: 853026002370
Release Date: December 6th, 2011
Synopsis:
Yay, Christmas is coming! You have no idea how much I love this season! The lights, the carols, the tree, the time with family, it's all a lot of fun. However, with all of the traditional fun, as my littles gets older, she starts asking a lot more questions as to why we do certain things. And they are all good questions. Some I knew the general idea, but others, I had to go look it up.
I've been eying the Buck Denver series for sometime, so when the chance to review this DVD came up, I thought I would give it ago. I have to say, I'm glad I did. My littles loved this video. There was a good mix of jokes (for adults and kids) with good facts of the origins of the Christmas traditions. I also enjoyed the fact that everything wasn't all puppets. There were some cartoon sections put in for a couple of parts and it help break up the show into smaller sections for kids to understand. The segments offered some good insight into the history of the traditions and showed how everything was morphed into one giant celebration of Christmas from many smaller areas.
The littles and I also watched the extra features. There were some fun sing-a-long songs, a poem of Christmas from Buck Denver that had me crack up a couple of times, and a blooper reel. Some kids can get a glimpse into the making of puppet show that way, which is great.
This was a fun video and the littles has requested to watch again, so it is one I would recommend to anyone.

Super Six Sunday: Book to Movie (The Best)
September 15, 2013
Super Six Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Bewitched Bookworms. It was inspired by Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week features a book related topic for you to highlight your Super Six.
Super Six Book to Movie Adaptations
I decided to focus this week on my favorite adaptions. Either the movie was pretty close to the book or...I liked the movie more.
1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
I will admit, it has been a struggle to get through Austen's work, but I love the movies. I loved this Pride & Prejudice and how it brought the country side into everything.
2. Les Miserable by Victor Hugo
I haven't finished Les Miserables, I will admit. I loved the recent movie. The music is was phenomenal!
3. Breaking Dawn (Part 2) by Stephanie Meyer
I wanted to throw this book against the wall. There was no battle!!! We had a build up for nothing!! NOTHING!!! The movie gave me my battle. I read spoilers, so I knew it was coming, sadly my friend who went with me did not. It was great to hear her gasp! I was giddy!
4. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Yes, a few things were changed, but the movie stuck pretty close to the book. I loved all the behind the games shots we saw in the movie. Fantastic! They pulled off the games I thought well. They could have gone over board with the violence, but they tamed it down well.
5. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
I grew up watching Gone with the Wind. It wasn't until a few years ago did I read the book. I was shocked at how much the movie left out, but I was glad that the movie softened the characters, compared to the book. They are both good in my mind.
6. The Killer Angels (Ghettysburg) by Michael Shaara
The Killer Angels goes back to my college American History class (think when Blockbuster was thriving and VHS's were the only thing around). I held on to the book after I was finished with my class. I really liked it. However, some weeks were hard in getting all my reading in...low and behold, I discovered Gettysburg. It follows so close to the book, it was wonderful. I could watch the movie the night before my tests and be good. The story is great, too.
What are your favorite book to movie adaptations? Or, which ones have you seen last?
Book to Movie News: How To Train Your Dragon 2
July 28, 2013
I'm super excited about this movie! I will say, I have read the How to Train Your Dragon books...I was not impressed at all, but I loved the movie! The movie was 10 times better than the books.
We only get a little teaser bit, but I can't wait for June 2014!!

Book to Movie News!
July 20, 2013
Today the latest trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was released! I will say, it gave me chills! I can't wait to see it. It looks fantastic and it looks like it has stuck close to the book, but as I said with The Hunger Games, I'm ok with any changes that are made, since Suzanne Collins is behind it.

Book to Movie News
June 6, 2013
Percy Jackson & The Sea of Monsters is coming to the big screen this summer! I was a little bummed after the first movie. The movie didn't really do the book justice. I love the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan and this trailer gives me hope that The Sea of Monsters is going to be good.
The Hunger Games: Movie
March 27, 2012
Ok, this isn't a book review, but a review of a movie based on a book. I will not spoil the movie, so no fears if you haven't seen it.
I saw The Hunger Games this weekend and I just have to say, it was really good! It is one of the better book to movie adaptations I've seen! It doesn't hurt that Suzanne Collins helped with the screen play.
With her behind the scenes, I think it helped to get what she had in mind while she was writing the book. It was interesting seeing a couple of added scenes. I thought it really added to the story and brought across her ideas on the screen flawlessly and in a way you couldn't have seen it in the book.
There has been a lot of discussions about the violence in the movie, but I have to say, that in the book as it was written, it wasn't graphic. It wasn't blood, blood, and more blood. It was shown, when it had to be and it wasn't glorified. I think it was well done, especially for a PG-13 movie. They could have been brutal about it, but they didn't and I'm glad about that.
I thought all the actors were spot on. I was very pleased with that. There were a few times when I couldn't help but compare the movie to the book going, "But what about this?...Why didn't they do this?... Aw, they left that out?" Over all though, I liked it a lot! The graphics were good. The sets were amazing! And they captured the capitol and the districts just right.
I say, go see it. It's a very good film.
And may the odds be ever in your favor!
