Waiting On Wednesday: Shadows of the White City by Jocelyn Green
January 27, 2021
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly feature that spotlights an up-and-coming release you are most excited about.
I'm kicking off this New Year looking forward to one of my favorite authors. Jocelyn Green writes historical fiction in such a way, she takes you back in time.
This feature is for a continuation of her Windy City Saga. Book one, Veiled in Smoke focused on the great Chicago Fire and the aftermath it had. Book two is set at the time of the World's Fair. I'm very excited about this, as I haven't really read a book set during this even yet.
Waiting On:
Author: Jocelyn Green
Publisher: Bethany House
Series: Windy City Saga

He is Rose's violin instructor and the concertmaster for the Columbian Exposition Orchestra, and his language skills are vital to helping Sylvie navigate the immigrant communities where their search leads. From the glittering architecture of the fair to the dark houses of Chicago's poorest neighborhoods, they're taken on a search that points to Rose's long-lost family. Is Sylvie willing to let the girl go? And as Kristof and Sylvie grow closer, can she reconcile her craving for control with her yearning to belong?

Waiting On Wednesday: Of Literature and Lattes
January 8, 2020
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly feature that spotlights an up-and-coming release you are most excited about.
January feels like a fresh start. It's a new year, a new month, and a new season, although it doesn't feel much like winter here, and I'm very sad. It's a roll of the dice if we get winter weather or not. Cold weather or not, it's always a good time to curl up with a book or start panning ahead for a new book. With the end of the year we look back, and the start of a new year we look forward. I know recently, I shared about the books I'm looking forward to in the first quarter of the year, so with today' Waiting On Wednesday, let's look a little further in the future!
Today I'm featuring an author who's books I've adored since her debut. Katherine Reay has such an amazing talent for writing. The emotional connections she creates is phenomenal. I am able to get caught up, not it just the story, but in the characters lives. They feel real and draw you in. Here characters are ones you can see yourself friends with, ones you can relate to.
With her new release in 2020, I'm so looking forward to jumping back into her writing to see where this story will take me.

She is broke, under FBI investigation, and without a place to go. Having exhausted every option, she comes home to Winsome, Illinois, to regroup then move on as quickly as possible. Yet, as friends and family welcome her back, Alyssa begins to see a place for herself in this small Midwestern community.
Jeremy Mitchell moved from Seattle to Winsome to be near his daughter and to open the coffee shop he’s been dreaming of for years. Problem is, the business is bleeding money—and he’s not quite sure why. When he meets Alyssa, he senses an immediate connection, but what he needs most is someone to help him save his floundering business. After asking for her help, he wonders if something might grow between them—but forces beyond their control soon complicate their already complex lives, and the future they both hoped for is not at all what they anticipated.
With the help of Winsome’s small-town charm and quirky residents, Alyssa and Jeremy discover the beauty and romance of second chances.

Waiting On Wednesday: The Gilded Lady
October 30, 2019
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly feature that spotlights an up-and-coming release you are most excited about.
I recently read Elizabeth Camden's newest release, The Spice King, you can follow the link to the review. I loved it! It was a story I couldn't wait to continue. The fact that it is a the start of a trilogy, really is a delight! The cover for book two of the Hope and Glory series was recently shared, and it is gorgeous! I can't wait to continue reading about this interesting family. There is still so much left to discover and where this story will go. And seeing it through the eyes of the only sister of the family should offer a very different insight.
I know this book still has a little way to go with it's release, but I'm so excited for this book.

Waiting On Wednesday: Daughter of Rome
October 16, 2019
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly feature that spotlights an up-and-coming release you are most excited about.
The book I'm featuring this week is another 2020 release, but it isn't that far off. This author is a favorite of mine. She has such a lyrical and poetic style of writing. She coneys the story in such a way that is transports you there and puts you in the story with the characters. You feel their emotions as the story goes.
Tessa Afshar's books have always been breathtaking. She focuses on Biblical fiction and has written many Old and New Testament stories that tug at you. She keeps the integrity of the Biblical account while weaving her characters into the narrative. I honestly can't wait for her soon to be new release Daughter of Rome.
It sounds amazing!
The cover is stunning!
Waiting On:
Title: Daughter of Rome
Author: Tessa Afshar
Publisher: Tyndale House
Publication Date: February 4th, 2020
About the Book:
A woman with a devastating secret. A man bent on proving his worth. A chance encounter that catapults them into the heart of history.
When the daughter of a prominent Roman general meets a disinherited Jewish immigrant, neither one can dream of God's plan to transform them into the most influential couple of the early church. Nor can they anticipate the mountains that will threaten to bury them. Their courtship unwittingly shadowed by murder and betrayal, Priscilla and Aquila slowly work to build a community of believers, while their lives grow increasingly complicated thanks to a shaggy dog, a mysterious runaway, and a ruthless foe desperate for love. But when they're banished from their home by a capricious emperor, they must join forces with an unusual rabbi named Paul and fight to turn treachery into redemption.
With impeccable research and vivid detail, Daughter of Rome is both an emotive love story and an immersive journey through first-century Rome and Corinth, reminding readers once again why Debbie Macomber has said that "no one brings the Bible to life like Tessa Afshar."

Waiting On Wednesday: The End of the Magi
September 18, 2019
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly feature that spotlights an up-and-coming release you are most excited about.
This week has me thinking a head to December for many reason. One, it hopefully won't be so hot any more....I'm mean really, it's September, and we're still rocking 100+ degrees. I'm kind of over it. Also, December is a time, even though busy, will be a time of being settled. So ready for that. Plus, December has Christmas! I love the lights, the sparkle, the Bible stories. It's memories.
This book has me looking forward to the end of the year when we do think more on the birth of Jesus and the Christmas story. The release of the book is perfect timing! November, can't go wrong. This book seems so interesting. I love books that focus on areas of history that are more quiet. The waiting period. It is an interesting time.
I can't wait to see what this book has to bring.

Waiting On Wednesday: The Major's Daughter
September 11, 2019
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly feature that spotlights an up-and-coming release you are most excited about.
Regina Jennings is an author who has mixed historical frontier fiction, sweet romance, and humor really well. I've enjoyed almost all over her stories. The ones I haven't, are the ones I haven't read yet, but I know I will when I read them. The publisher always gives her the cutest covers that are vibrant and fun and spotlight the heroines so well.
Her newest book will be released in December, and it sounds like it will be a great addition to her Fort Reno series. I enjoyed the movie Far and Away, and this book is set during the same rush of the land claim in Oklahoma. I think it will be a fun and interesting story with a cool background.
Waiting On:
Title: The Major's Daughter
Author: Regina Jennings
Publisher: Bethany House
Publication Date: December 3rd, 2019
About the Book:
She Staked a Claim on His Land, So He Decided to Stake a Claim on Her Heart

With the much-anticipated land run about to happen, she may just join the rush.

But when the gun sounds, everyone's best plans are thrown out the window in the chaos of the run. Caroline and Frisco find themselves battling over a claim--and both dig in their heels. Settling the rightful ownership will bring these two closer than they ever expected and change their ideas of what a true home looks like.
