Review:
Wow!

Forbidden takes you into a futuristic world like no other. It's been over 400 years since peace came to the world, but at a great price. There is no more love, hate, or any feeling that a person could feel, except fear. Fear of dying and a fear of never reaching Bliss when you die, the fear of being sent to Hades, that is what pushes the people to live their lives. However, in this world, you live your path and there is no fear of murder...or so people are brought to believe.

Order has reigned in this new world of fear. Order must be obeyed. Order is what leads a person to the life path they need to live. This new life is such a mix of modern (trains and computers) and the ancient (swords and horses). It is an interesting concept because it is hard to fully imagine in this technological age we are in now. The life of fear is such an interesting concept and it was all brought about 400 years passed, by the alchemists as a way to prevent any further destruction, but in doing so, humanity was destroyed. The people live, but they are nothing more than dead walking. There is no life without love and joy, sorrow and tears.

Rom has lived his life in a quiet way as an artisan. He makes his living singing at the funeral of the people who have died. He believes that is to be his life, till an old man stops him on his way home one night and hands him a box with a tube of blood and a message. He flees when the guards arrive, but not before seeing the old man struck down in the alley. He flees for his life, running from the Order, he is now a criminal. From here, his life is out of the Order he has ever known and he brings his three closest friends into it as well.

Forbidden is a dark and bloody book. Be warned if you are squeamish about mild to moderate descriptions of murder and of blood, they are in this story, just as a warning to you. The synopsis says a medieval future, however I disagree, I felt more in the time of a futuristic, ancient Rome, it is close to where the story is placed. The characters for the most part have a great depth to them. A couple of them didn't seem to play much of a part, but there seems to be a promise that there is more to at least one in the future. I can't wait to see what the promise means.

Forbidden was a compelling story, I did have a problem a couple of times to whose view I was reading right off, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this book.

Too Read!
